200-Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training

Twenty-two days with Samanta Duggal, 15 August to 7 September 2027, lived in the village: the first yoga teacher training Ulpotha has ever run. Applications, not bookings.

About the training

Book your stay Meet the teachers Add Ayurveda

Before you ask Pri

The questions people ask first

What does it cost for two of us?

The same per person. You share a hut, and there is no supplement for two. Two weeks is USD 3,500 each this winter, one week USD 2,100.

Can I come for one week?

Yes. Each retreat runs two weeks, Sunday to Sunday; take the first week, the second, or both. One week is USD 2,100 per person.

Can I come outside the retreat dates?

In winter you arrive on a retreat Sunday, 8 November to 14 March. April, May, September and October are open for private stays; write to Pri.

Is there still a place?

The next retreats and their dates are on this page; pick one and the booking shows what is free. If a week is full, join the waitlist and Pri writes to you first.

I’m coming alone. Do I get my own hut?

Most guests come on their own and share a hut with someone of the same gender, paired by age and language. A hut to yourself costs a supplement when one is free; ask Pri.

Can I add Ayurveda to a yoga week?

Yes, from three days (USD 250) to fourteen (USD 1,000), inside your stay. Every course starts with a consultation with Dr Srilal, the Ayurveda doctor. For an ailment, talk to Pri and the doctor first.

How do I get there from the airport?

About three hours by car. Ulpotha meets you at the airport; the transfer is USD 100 each way.

When do I pay what?

A 40% deposit within five days of booking, the rest eight weeks before you arrive. Early bird rates are paid in full within a week. Cards carry a 4.3% fee; a bank transfer through Pri does not.

What if I have to cancel?

More than eight weeks out you lose the deposit. 55 to 28 days before arrival, 70% of the total. 27 days or fewer, the full amount. You can move to other dates, subject to availability and the rates at the time.

Can I bring my children?

Yes; children stay at half price. Write to Pri about ages and huts.

I’m new to yoga.

Every level is welcome, beginners included. Yoga runs every day, usually two classes, in the open shala, and everything is optional.

Is there electricity?

No electricity by design, and minimal Wi-Fi, just enough to be in touch with loved ones. No sockets, fans or air-conditioning in the huts; phones charge in the main house. Paths and huts are lit by lanterns.
