Ayurvedic constitution
The Three Doshas
Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three energies Ayurveda uses to describe your constitution. At Ulpotha, a personal consultation reads your constitution and shapes your Ayurvedic treatment.
Ayurveda understands each of us through three doshas: the energies that govern how the body and mind behave. We each carry all three; it is the balance between them that makes a constitution, and a personal consultation is how an Ayurvedic doctor reads yours.
Vata
Air & space
The energy of movement: breath, circulation, thought. Light, quick and creative in balance; restless, dry or anxious when in excess. Settled by warmth, oil, rest and routine.

Pitta
Fire & water
The energy of transformation: digestion, metabolism, focus. Sharp, warm and driven in balance; intense, overheated or irritable in excess. Cooled by calm, shade and gentle food.

Kapha
Earth & water
The energy of structure: strength, stability, calm. Grounded, steady and nurturing in balance; heavy, sluggish or holding-on in excess. Lifted by movement, stimulation and lightness.

At Ulpotha
Your constitution shapes your treatment
Every Ayurveda treatment at Ulpotha includes personalised elements based on a personal consultation with Dr Srilal. Rather than a fixed package, we choose your therapies: the oils, the baths, and whether your programme includes an elimination therapy such as inhalation or purgation. The village setting does the rest: the climate, the pace and the closeness to nature all help you settle and let the treatment do its work.
