To put into words what Ulpotha and its magic feels like is impossible. From the raw beauty of the jungle and its charming creatures, the soul nourishing food, the time for play and exploration-of both yourself and the beauty around you- and most of all the pure heart and soul that goes into all of it by the people and community that make it possible. Ulpotha allows you to take time and space for yourself in whatever shape that may be. Our beautiful host and yoga instructor Molly provided a space to weave together mind, body and soul through her practice. I feel very lucky to have come at this time.
I am grateful for every soul, spirit and living being I came across during my week stay, each nudging a different part of me to gently wake up. It would be an honour and privilege to come back one day. Till then, thank you and lots of love.

If you’re ever in need of a magical escape to heal your body, mind, and soul, Ulpotha is the place. Not only is it nestled in a beautifully preserved corner of the Sri Lankan jungle buzzing with rich flora and fauna, but most importantly, the eco-village is run by an incredibly kind and hospitable community, who makes you feel at home. I cannot wait to go back!

As a writer, it’s hard to accept when I have no words to describe something. As I clicked on the link to write this review, I found that no words came to me - not because there is nothing to say, on the contrary, it’s because I have so much to say, perhaps even too much for language’s ability to comprehend.
The one thing I can say is that I have cosmically fallen in love with the land, the people, and the wholesome container that Ulpotha represents and offers to its visitors. To every tree, every leaf, every bird, every animal, every insect, and every drop of life giving water - I say thank you and I love you. To the villagers that the land truly relies on, the seamless weavers of the Ulpotha fabric, I say thank you and I love you.
To Ulpotha’s overseeing and organizing team I say; thank you and I love you.
I offer a piece of my heart in gratitude to all of you.
See you soon.
With Great Love,
Sarah

I had the most amazing two week stay at Ulpotha in March. Everything from the people, the food, the yoga, the nature and animals - it was all magical. I was lucky enough to be there for the annual rice blessing ceremony which felt very special to be a part of. I’m grateful to have met the owners Viren and Giles, who were so kind, and a special thanks to Molly our incredible host. The whole village at Ulpotha looked after us to no end, I can’t wait to come back again soon!

"The ultimate switch off and get away from it all. A week to become part of the Sri Lankan ecosystem. From arising at dawn to the sounds of the jungle birds waking, to the lantern lit evening gathering for a delicious vegan dinner, the relaxing pace of the day is in perfect harmony. Morning and evening yoga led by world class instructors and daily visits, if you wish, to the soothing hands of the ladies in the Ayurvedic centre or massage huts. In between, relaxing in shady hammocks and dips in the cool fresh water of the vast lake. Who would imagine that such simple accommodation could feel so luxurious and leave one yearning to return."

"Ulpotha is a magical place for the body, mind, and soul. Having had a wonderful getaway holiday here to refresh myself, I found that I reconnected with my body's natural rhythm within two days, and felt rejuvenated by the incredible landscape and the fresh, organic food.
My favourite part of the property is the lake, where swimming or paddling can be enjoyed in the mornings or afternoons. The property is in a part of the country that is dry and hot, and there is something exciting about this kind of wilderness, and I loved exploring and going on walks, watching the monkeys, squirrels, or peacocks as they roamed around. We even had a sighting of elephants, which delighted everyone to no end."
The huts are open and rustic, and I appreciated the simplicity, where one could connect back to the earth. With no distraction, I could just be, enjoying my time in a space that felt almost like it was from another century.

"There’s pure magic here. Every detail is so thoughtful and meticulous. I did a two week retreat and could have stayed for double the time. I felt relaxed and inspired. I cannot get over the food… some of the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve been vegan for 25 years and it was so nice to be able to eat so beautifully. Everything is prepared with such love and care that you can really feel it. Our host, Mark, was so on top of everything and really fun to be around. The massage therapists, Flo and Boris, were stellar!!!!! And our yoga teacher, Lila, was a brilliant yoga teacher and even more incredible human. Felt like such a privilege to be there. I’ve never left a holiday feeling this rejuvenated. A stay at Ulpotha may be the best thing you ever do for yourself!"
