How Ulpotha works for you
There is a holy trinity of three main elements to Ulpotha: Nature, Ayurveda, and yoga
Firstly, Ulpotha is situated in one of the most breathtaking places that exists in the natural world. A warm, embracing jungle community surrounded by a serene lake with silky, soft water to bathe and float in. A place of harmony, without the harshness of electric lights, phone distractions, or hurried agendas.
Ayurveda and yoga both emerged from the same ancient Vedic traditions thousands of years ago. Yoga is as much a core therapeutic tool of Ayurveda as is eating wholesome, locally picked organic food in the soft embrace of Ulpotha, which is a core therapeutic element of healthy living.
At the heart of Ulpotha are its authentic Ayurvedic treatments, which run quietly in the background. They are an optional extra cost to your holiday price and can be booked for anything from a 3-day taster to a more immersive Panchakarma course lasting 3 weeks or more.
The treatments last up to two hours per day and are generally taken after the morning yoga session or before the evening session.
Daily yoga, included in your stay, complements your Ayurvedic healing. World-renowned Yoga teachers, from Hatha flow to Iyengar, Vinyasa, and more, visit for two-week retreats and the dynamic morning classes and more gentle evening sessions help align you with your core both on and off the mat.
Ulpotha is a living embodiment of Ayurveda, bringing you back to your essence. Yoga, nature, nourishing food, conversations around firelight, and the Ayurveda treatments all work together to balance your Doshas.
For a naturally life-changing experience and Ayurvedic healing, we strongly recommend you add the Ayurveda treatments to your stay, but we have made them intentionally optional, as to quote our residential Ayurveda Doctor, Dr Srilal: “Merely being in Ulpotha is restorative. Eating nourishing food and practising daily yoga in such a relaxed environment covers the majority of Ayurvedic healing. The balance comes from the Ayurveda treatments themselves.”
All treatment costs go toward supporting a free village clinic at the turn-off to Ulpotha, and a short bike ride away, run by Dr SriLal, which, as of mid 2025, has received over 65,750 visits from more than 21,500 patients.
